Opening hours are more than one line in a profile

Guests need to know when the particular service they want is available.

Separate the relevant times

A restaurant may remain open until ten while its kitchen closes at nine. A hotel reception may welcome arrivals after its wellness area has closed. One broad time range can therefore create the wrong expectation.

Google's May 2025 AI Mode update presented opening hours among place details. The accuracy of displayed information still needs checking.

Maintain three time layers

  • Regular hours for the place as a whole.
  • Service hours for the kitchen, ticket office, tours or wellness area.
  • Exceptions for holidays, maintenance and private events.

Give temporary announcements an expiry date. A holiday notice should not remain at the top of the website for months. Equally, a single event should not permanently change the regular schedule.

Try one practical question

If someone sets out at half past eight tonight, what could they still use? When the website and profile suggest different answers, correcting them is a priority. After saving changes, inspect the actual guest-facing view. A successful save is not proof that every published surface now shows the intended information.
